Review: Runwave Kohala Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board (iSUP)

By |2022-08-03T01:37:06-07:00Nov 6, 2020 - Friday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 7 mins. About five months ago, my best friend and I each purchased an inflatable, standup paddleboard (iSUP) so we could get some fun exercise in while socially distancing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also meant as a way to bond with our children, and not long after, many friends joined in with boards of their own. Their favorite was the Runwave Kohala that also proved quite popular around the harbor we paddled at. In this review, I take a look at what makes it an excellent beginner board. It had also been marked a "Best Seller" by Amazon.com a couple times.

Review: Jackery Explorer 300 (vs Explorer 1000) Portable Power Station

By |2023-10-13T17:21:34-07:00Sep 16, 2020 - Wednesday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 18 mins. Back in April, I purchased the Jackery Explorer 1000 and the Goal Zero Yeti 500x later as a result of 2019's fires. Coincidentally, this year's fires on the entire US west coast is actually WORSE with new records broken! I cannot stress how important it is to be prepared for emergencies! Thankfully, there has been an increase in people taking emergency preparation more seriously. When Jackery announced the Explorer 300 with a special launch price and some improvements over the Explorer 1000, I jumped on it for one simple reason: my little boy loves camping and I wanted him to have a mini-Explorer of his own (actually, I wanted another backup battery, but don't tell him that). It DOES look awfully cute to have him and I stand next to one another holding our own Explorers!

Review: Foho 34 Quart Car Freezer/Fridge (BCD-32) (34qt/32L/32 Liters)

By |2022-07-19T00:06:08-07:00Aug 3, 2020 - Monday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 14 mins. Over the past 2.5 months, I had the fortunate opportunity to test and review 3 car freezers/refrigerators that could be powered by the 12V port/battery of a car. Their energy efficiency allowed them to be powered by a battery power station and supplemented with solar panels. We came to love the Foho over the Rockpals and Domende ones, and in this review, we look at the smallest model of that product line: the 34qt Foho BCD-32. There was much to like!

Pressure Washers: Use Cases, Tips, and Warnings

By |2022-04-18T18:25:00-07:00Jul 24, 2020 - Friday|Do-It-Yourself|

Read: 3 mins. Pressure washers are a fast, convenient way to remove gunk, but they can also be VERY dangerous if used improperly. They work by taking in low-pressure water, turn it into a super high-powered stream (with a gas or electric motor), then through a nozzle where it can be so strong, it can actually damage wood/stone and inflict serious harm to people and animals. So, how do you use them? This article covers the Do's and Do Not's, and what they are commonly used for.

Review: Feiyu Pocket 2-in-1 Gimbal Camera

Read: 6 mins. If you like vlogging or taking stabilized, steady videos, gimbals are designed to help you do so. A variety of gimbals exist, but not too long ago, DJI introduced the Osmo Pocket -- a handheld, compact recording device that combines an action camera with built-in video stabilization. It was initially plagued with issues, but DJI enjoyed a good year of success with a one-of-a-kind product... until now. Feiyu brought its Pocket to market recently to become the Osmo Pocket's first challenger. With updated features and an attractive price, there is much to like about the newcomer.

Review: UPerfect 15.6″ Portable, Touch Monitor with Battery

By |2021-06-26T22:27:36-07:00Jul 21, 2020 - Tuesday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 6 mins. Last year, I purchased an Acer PM161Q ($130) to supplement my then-Surface Pro 5 with a secondary display. It was a first-of-its kind, portable monitor that was lightweight, but it also was a nightmare of a device to use due to compatibility issues. Turns out, Thunderbolt 3 was required that not many devices yet supported. Fast-forward 7 months later, and more computers now support that technology. What stood out about this UPerfect 15.6" monitor were its touchscreen, built-in battery, IPS display, and quad speakers for about 25% less than the Asus Zenscreen MB16AMT I had been eyeing for months. Here is my evaluation of the UPerfect portable display.
